The R. Nicholas Gimbel Fund for Legal Excellence was created with contributions from friends, family, and colleagues to honor Nick Gimbel's memory, his passion for the law, and his desire that it be practiced at the highest levels of excellence. Mr. Gimbel was a partner at the law firm of McCarter & English in Philadelphia and a graduate of Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School. The Philadelphia Bar Foundation is honored that Mr. Gimbel's family, friends, and colleagues have entrusted the Fund to its care, and is proud to offer training to public interest legal services attorneys who serve in the vanguard of efforts to provide equal access to justice.
In October 2013, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation presented a three-day Trial Advocacy Program for forty Public Interest lawyers at Rutgers School of Law-Camden.
In June 2014, in honor of its 50th Anniversary, and in conjunction with the Legal Writing Institute’s 16th Biennial Conference in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation in collaboration with Rutgers School of Law-Camden offered a three credit CLE on "Legal Persuasion in Writing.”
In 2016, the Bar Foundation is excited to continue its collaboration with Rutgers School of Law and offer a 3-day Trial Advocacy Training Program hosted by Pepper Hamilton LLP. **Although registration is now full for the March 14-16 Trial Advocacy Training, you may still claim a spot on the waiting list by sending a completed application to [email protected].
