This is an intensive online program where participants gather in a virtual classroom to practice NITA's famous deposition training. Before the program begins, you will review the NITA case file, attend a pre-program lecture. Then you will take part in actual depositions. For 4 hours a day over 3 consecutive days, you, along with 5 other participants and a faculty member, will meet in a Zoom video-performance room and go through the learning-by-doing workshops NITA is famous for. You will learn this “lifeboat” skill of how to take a deposition. This program uses the same materials, teaches the same skills, and follows the same learning-by-doing method as an in-person deposition skills program.
Throughout the program, you will practice, perform, and perfect your style and skills in the areas of:
• Information gathering
• Theory testing—legal, factual, persuasive
• Using exhibits, conversations, and meetings
• Gaining admissions
You’ll get personalized coaching to help you immediately improve your skills. But unlike in an actual deposition where the outcome is real, with this program you get to make instant course corrections and practice them again—with only your old habits at stake. The “learning-by-doing” method, when practiced in the safe harbor of the online classroom, allows you to take calculated risks and perform under pressure, without ever jeopardizing your client’s case or your own reputation. After three days, you’ll return to your office empowered to make immediate use of everything you’ve learned — skills that will serve you well until the day you retire from practice.
Whether you are a seasoned trial lawyer, brand-new to the practice of law, or somewhere in between, attending this deposition skills course online will give you the skills you need to be a better advocate for your clients.
