Evan Barker: More Than Just An Attorney for Legal Clinic for the Disabled

Evan Barker, staff attorney with our nonprofit partner Legal Clinic for the Disabled (LCD), was able to provide his client Margaret a home to live in through the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA). She must use a cane for assistance due to renal disease and respiratory problems, and has trouble getting around.

Margaret was initially homeless, traveling from shelter to shelter, and denied housing by PHA because of an outstanding tax debt from 2010. With Evan working on the case, PHA granted Margaret a home where she can now live safely and soundly. Since then, her health has increased remarkably with help from the Stephen Klein Wellness Center and she is living comfortably in her new home.
