Nonprofit Partner hosts “Know Your Rights” Workshop
Our nonprofit partner, Justice at Work, and their associates at Manos Unidas, held a “Know Your Rights” workshop for over 70 immigrants in the Hispanic immigrant community in Adams County, PA. Before the workshop, they feared the possibility of deportation and the potential appeal of executive orders like Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
The workshop had such a strong turnout that it surprised community leaders. They had so many attendees, they needed to relocate to a bigger facility to house their audience. The event was directed towards presenting resources, and answering issues and concerns for immigrant families following the election. It addressed immigrant rights dealing with police interactions, defense against deportation packets, and contacts for immigration lawyers. Hispanic immigrants have gained confidence and no longer have to “live in the shadows” of their community.
