The Philadelphia Bar Foundation funds nearly 40 legal aid nonprofits, all of whom are doing incredible work in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania for the communities they serve. Our bi-weekly news round-ups highlight their recent activities:
3/12/2021 - The SeniorLAW Center participated in a town hall that discussed senior scams and financial empowerment.
3/12/2021 - The United Nations released a report concerning police abuses that cites the Philadelphia Police Department as an example, following a complaint filed by the ACLU-PA concerning the PPD's conduct during the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer.
3/11/2021 - Parents and school districts being represented by the Public Interest Law Center were granted a trial in a Pennsylvania school funding case.
3/8/2021 - Community Legal Services’ “Philadelphia Renters Report” was featured in an article about the rental housing crisis and what is being done to address it.
3/2/2021 - The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania represented the Abolitionist Law Center in their suit against a Common Pleas Judge who refused to grant remote access to their court.
