Unified Giving in Support of Legal Aid
By Leslie E. John, partner at Ballard Spahr LLP, and President of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.
Each year, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation undertakes an intense effort to discover ways to maximize the delivery of civil legal aid to those in need. Since 2018, we’ve been using a Unified Approach to Giving for our law firm and business fundraising, an annual one-time gift that supplements the need for multiple requests for event sponsorships throughout the year.
Unified Giving is beneficial for many reasons, including providing long-term sustainability and flexibility to the Foundation and allowing for more focus on making the Equal Justice Center project a reality, and we are grateful to all the Philadelphia law firms who have supported us in this model.
2019 was another strong year at the Foundation. As I highlighted in my last column, we were able to give over $300,000 in grants to our nonprofit partners, which wouldn’t have been possible without our generous donors and Unified Giving partners.
The Philadelphia Bar Foundation would like to thank our 2019 Unified Giving Partners.
The Unified Approach to Giving does not influence individual contributions, which are a vital part of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation’s revenue throughout the year. Every individual who donates to the Foundation is valued. There are many worthy organizations to donate to in Philadelphia, and we appreciate each gift we receive in every amount. Thank you for your continued service to us and our nonprofit partners.
