#FairFundingPA Lives On After Landmark PA Supreme Court Decision
Pennsylvania's education system has a huge spotlight on it right now. Students, parents, and teachers were left in the dark with lack of access to academic resources. Our nonprofit partners decided to do something about it. Three years ago, the Public Interest Law Center and Education Law Center, filed a lawsuit: William Penn School District , et. al. v. Pennsylvania Dept. of Education, et. al in hopes to force Harrisburg to properly fund public education.
The case was originally dismissed in the Commonwealth Court in 2015. A year after oral arguments were heard, a major victory was decided by the PA Supreme Court. The Education Clause of PA's Constitution is enforceable. Now it's back to the Commonwealth Court to fight for more adequate statewide public school funding. Download the full case below!
