Bar Foundation Announces Winners of Two Prestigious Awards
Fox Rothschild LLP and Mary Catherine Roper, Esquire, senior staff attorney at ACLU of Pennsylvania, will receive two awards presented by the Philadelphia Bar Foundation at the 34th Annual Andrew Hamilton Benefit, November 3rd at the Barnes on the Parkway. The Philadelphia Bar Foundation Pro Bono Award honors outstanding law firm pro bono efforts, and the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award is presented to an attorney in the non-profit legal community whose work advances the cause of equal access to justice.
Fox Rothschild attorneys have helped the financial stability of disadvantaged communities in Philadelphia through their pro bono work on bankruptcy, small business and family law cases. The Pro Bono Award will be accepted by Abraham C. Reich, Esquire, co-chair of the firm and past chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Mary Catherine Roper has become, as one of the nomination letters stated, “A lynchpin in the efforts to bring justice through law to Philadelphia and surrounding areas.” At the ACLU she runs much of the legal docket for the organization, focusing primarily on students' rights, free speech, freedom of association, prisoners' rights, and police misconduct.
